Back in 2004/05 Red Wahoo led the effort to scope the requirements for implementing and managing a collection of infrastructure components that enable an open but managed approach to promoting a high level of interoperability between (Federal) agencies and across (State) jurisdictions. This capability came to be known as GovDex.
The GovDex Scoping Project generated considerable interest and excitement within the Agency community. Agencies recognised the value that GovDex may bring them, namely:
- Reduced costs and faster development time of integration standards and associated services.
- Reduced costs and faster deployment time of integration services between agencies and the business community.
- Reduced ongoing standards and services maintenance and management costs.
Indeed, there will be instances where large-scale community integrations may now be achieved (using GovDex) that previously were not possible/ cost effective.
Since the scoping phase, Red Wahoo has performed two key roles in the realisation of the GovDex vision:
- Red Wahoo manages the GovDex collaborative workspace ("wiki") for AGIMO. This system can be found here. This workspace is used by over 1500 users in a multitude of government projects to create, manage and store their unstructured (project related) deliverables.
- Red Wahoo provides GovDex its (pilot implementation) registry/repository for the storage of structured data e.g. technical XML schemas.
